This PS3 thing is freaking me out. Every once and a while I see something (a screen or vid) that makes me say - WOW. But more often then not, I'm underwelmed. Almost to the point that not only do I think these first ps3 games will be no more advanced visually than 360 games, but actually worse (and by the way, of course launch ps3 games should look as good as 2nd gen 360 games, they are being developed simultaneously on similar hardware - that's how technology works).

In fact, several gaming news sites have already speculated that they just added in interface elements (yes, like the lifebar) to make it look like actual gameplay.

This game definately benefits from motion - screen caps don't do it justice - the graphics are really nice and the effects are sweet. The graphics in Condemned were some of my favorite ever (from a design and technical standpoint) and this game is very similar only with more blasting!

Before you yell at me, yes I know that's from the e3 demo and its not the full game. But my concern is that the developers spent all their "points" on the physics and mud/tire ruts and didn't have enough for environments. I'm afraid that if this the average track size and variety, it will be a pretty shallow game and not worth 70 bucks.

But I watched some gameplay trailers on GameTrailers.com and now I'm stoked for it - and it looks very impressive in motion. I think they are right on with this game - sure its a GTA clone, but its a gorgeous looking GTA Clone that will have the "urban sandbox" market all to itself for close to a year (until GTA 4 comes out).

There is no point in arguing if the PS3 is a good value - it is, unarguably. ...do the character models look like action figures, or like they are claymation or something. Not saying it looks bad, just a little odd. I agree with number one - although the artistic styles are different, the graphical quality of both DOA4 and VF5 are about on par. Both have a lot of strenghts and a few weaknesses.
Also, apparently "rim-lighting" is the lens-flare of the ps3 - the ubiquitous visual effect - seems like its overused in all the games. Look around you...
Graphics are nice (technically and artistically) - and the animations in the video I saw are nothing short of spectactular (give Ninja Gaiden and Prince of Persia games a run for their money). Just hope the gameplay pans out (is deep - otherwise we've got us a pretty Bloodrayne on our hands :) ).
